About the photographer
Imperfect Randomist
I'm a landscape and wildlife photographer drawn to the quiet margins of the day, the thirty minutes before sunrise, the last bleed of colour after sunset, the moment a fog bank folds silently over a ridge. From the Sierras to the Himalayas, my work is driven by patience, a deep love for nature, and an enduring admiration for the wild lives that share this planet. Every image is an invitation to look closer, stay longer, and remember that the natural world is still out there, waiting to be witnessed.
The journey
From a young age, I've been captivated by the beauty and serenity of nature. What began as a childhood fascination has grown into a lifelong pursuit. It started with a borrowed point-and-shoot camera on a trip with friends. I became the unofficial official photographer of the group, and people's appreciation motivated me to get my own camera and start exploring the world through my lens.
I got my first DSLR almost two years after that trip, once I'd saved enough money to make it happen. No burst modes, no spray-and-pray. Quality over quantity isn't a philosophy I adopted; it's one I arrived at through regret.
Today my work centres on the coastal ranges and high deserts of the American West, with occasional expeditions further afield. From towering mountains and pristine beaches to lush forests and vibrant wildlife, I'm drawn to the quiet margins of the day, the relationship between stillness and time, and how a long exposure can reveal motion invisible to the eye. Every photograph is a reflection of my journey, a piece of the world that left an impression on me, and my way of honouring the planet's incredible wonders.
